National Storytelling Week

31 January – 8 February 2026

Storytelling is at the heart of early learning and plays a powerful role in supporting children’s holistic development. During National Storytelling Week, we celebrate the impact stories have in helping young children learn, connect, and understand the world around them.

As a training provider, we actively champion the importance of storytelling throughout our courses, supporting Early Years practitioners to embed meaningful storytelling into everyday practice.

The benefits of storytelling include:
Communication and Language – building vocabulary, developing listening skills, and supporting confident communication
Personal, Social and Emotional Development – exploring emotions, understanding feelings, and learning how to make positive choices
Understanding the World – discovering different cultures and gaining insight into diverse perspectives

For further guidance, ideas, and resources, Early Years Practitioners can access information from the National Literacy Trust

If we read to a child every day by their 5th birthday, they would have heard 1825 books!

Let’s inspire a love of stories and learning this National Storytelling Week!
