Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy

This policy outlines how Puzzled Education promotes and supports equality, diversity and inclusion across all aspects of our provision.

1. Policy Statement

Puzzled Education is committed to creating an inclusive and respectful environment where all learners, staff, and stakeholders are treated with dignity and fairness. We celebrate diversity and actively work to remove barriers to participation, achievement and progression.

2. Legal Framework

This policy is underpinned by the Equality Act 2010 and recognises the nine protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation. We are committed to upholding the principles of equality law and preventing all forms of discrimination and harassment.

3. Scope

This policy applies to all learners, staff, contractors, visitors and partners of Puzzled Education. It covers all settings including face-to-face, online, workplace, and off-site delivery.

4. Roles and Responsibilities

– All learners and staff are expected to uphold the values of respect, inclusion, and equality.
– Tutors and assessors must embed inclusive practice in teaching and learning.
– The Managing Director is responsible for ensuring compliance and leading on implementation.
– Designated staff oversee reporting, training, and response to any issues.

5. Implementation

Equality and inclusion are embedded into:
– Recruitment and induction of staff and learners
– Curriculum design and assessment practices
– Learning support and reasonable adjustments
– Inclusive teaching strategies and flexible delivery
– Outreach, engagement and progression planning

6. Training and Awareness

Staff complete EDI training at induction and through ongoing CPD. We promote awareness through team briefings, learner activities, and inclusive role modelling.

7. Dealing with Discrimination or Harassment

Discriminatory language or behaviour will not be tolerated. Learners or staff experiencing or witnessing discrimination can report concerns to their tutor, manager, or via email to enquiries@puzzledtraining.co.uk. All reports will be handled confidentially and investigated appropriately, in line with our Complaints or Disciplinary Procedures.

8. Monitoring and Evaluation

We monitor learner participation, achievement, retention and satisfaction by demographic groups. Staff feedback is collected annually. Data is used to review practice and plan improvements.

9. Accessibility and Reasonable Adjustments

We make reasonable adjustments to ensure all learners can access and succeed in our programmes. Learners with SEND, language needs or other barriers are supported through personalised planning and inclusive teaching.

10. Policy Review and Contact

This policy is reviewed annually. Feedback is welcomed to improve accessibility and effectiveness.
